Red, White and Blue or Red and White Color Challenge 6/28/10

Happy Monday to you.  Given that in the US we are coming up on our annual celebration of our independence day, I would like you to make a card which incorporates the colors red, white and blue.  You can use other colors but the red, white and blue should be the primary focus.  Your theme can be of any that you want.  I know that it's also going to be Canada Day, so if you would like to make a card that is just red and white, go for it!! Can't wait to see what you create.  The DT has created the most amazing samples.  Before I show you the DT's cards you just have to see what our guest designer Sharm has created, it is just stunning.  I hope that we have given you some great inspiration and I can't wait to see what you come up with.  Happy Independence Day everyone and to our friends who live in Canada...Happy Canada Day.

Sharm - Guest Designer

"I'm Sharm from Sunny Malaysia..the weather's been rather unpredictable so it's not reli sunny that often these day *lol* :) I'm a SAHM to a very mischievious one yr old bratty lil gal that I love loads and a wonderfully supportive hubby .. :)

I love all things handmade & indulge in a variety of handmade hobbies that include card making, scrapping and jewelry making. I’m especially passionate about card making as I always believe that a lot of things are said through cards…A handmade one is beautiful to receive as it is beautiful to make. It is also a poignant way to express a thought that comes straight from the heart. Though my time is fully occupied with my lil princess, I make time to indulge in this hobby that I find to be extremely therapeutic after a busy day with my baby.
I'm also a self-confessed hoarder! *lol* I can't walk out of a scrapbooking supplies store empty handed!"

I love the measuring tape on the side, the awesome detail on the punched border and those flowers are just gorgeous.  I also am a big fan of square cards, it is great to think outside the box of creating all 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" cards.  Here's her blog if you would like to see more of her gorgeous work!!!

Corinne

Corinne created this darling red, white and blue card. Her little birdie is so cute and the flowers are just pefect. The mix of patterned paper and solids is stunning.

Jerusha
Jerusha designed this adorable red, white and blue card in honor of Canada Day! He is so cute and I love the embellishments and the coloring is just fabulous. Happy Canada Day everyone.

Dani

Isn't Dani's card just so cute.  I love the basket with all the patriotic colors and the glitter is just fabulous too.

Sandi

I just love that big bow and those stars are fabulous.  It is so fun and cheery.

JJ

JJ used the same paper line as Sandi and yet their creations are both so gorgeous and so different.  I love the stars and the bling is just fabulous.

Emily

I just love that doily flower with the button on the inside.  How pretty and vintagey looking!!!

Melissa

Melissa made the prettiest card to celebrate Canada Day as well.  I love the distressing and the pearls are fabulous.

Anita

Here is my card.  Thanks for looking.  Have a great week and I can't wait to see what you create and look forward to leaving you some love.  Now it's your turn - let's see your cards with red, white and blue.  Get your card posted here by Saturday July 3rd at 8PM EST. Card Challenge Power Week - Monochromatic or Transparent

It's a Power Week with the LCOM Card team, which means we've got not just one, but two challenges for you. You've got the power to choose to do one, two, or a combination.

Sandi made me do it - I swear, ha ha ha! (I'm more of the AC/DC music persuasion). Before I get more off track, let take a look at the challenges for the week.

Challenge number one is to go Monochromatic - make a card using shades of only one color.

Anita chose shades of lavender:

Challenge number two is to go Transparent - make a card that you can see through part of the card, so for instance use a transparency for the whole card, or a window in the middle, or a border around. Use your imagination (we kinda like that around here).

Anita chose a transparent cover for her card:

Sandi's transparent element is a Tim Holtz "fragment" (the clear tile).

For the base of this card JJ used a transparency instead of cardstock, which she embossed and inked with StazOn.

The following samples from the card team combine the two challenges:

Corinne proves that greyscale does not mean boring (her transparent elements are the buttons):

Dani created contrast with beautiful embossing on this pink monochromatic card. Her transparent element is the window:

Melissa created a beautiful winter-y effect with a transparent card, and shades of white:

Jerusha's card in shades of blue from deep navy to lighter hues creates great contrast. Her transparent element was created from Prima packaging - pretty and 'green'!

Emily used shades of orange in her card. The transparent element is the heart in the centre of the flower.

Now it's your turn - let's see your cards featuring a monochromatic theme, or transparent elements (or both). Get your card posted here by Saturday June 26th at 8PM EST. Then winners will be posted here on Sunday the 27th. And because this week we are all about giving you the power to choose, if you win - you get your choice of prize! You can opt for the Prize Pack (shown below) or you can opt for a Guest DT spot with the card team for the week of July 5th. Please indicate either PP or GDT after your name in the link. I can't wait to see what you create!

This week's Prize Pack - buttons from My Little Bit of Whimsy, plus a ribbon 4-pk from Bo Bunny's "Play All Day" collection :

Today is Father's Day and you'll be taking all those great pictures. Do you have the supplies you need to scrap those great pictures? Here's some great products that you can find in the store. Tanya has them marked 10% off. What a great deal!!!! Hurry on over and place your order.

Winners of Love/Wedding/Anniversary Challenge

I can't help it...I have to stay with our wedding theme.  So press play and scroll down while you listen!!!

First bridesmaid is Aurelie

Her card just screams wedding with all that white.  If you look closely you can see the subtle embossing of polka dots on the paper.  I love the stitching and the the time that she took to sew the buttons onto the card.  Great job Aurelie!

And our second bridesmaid is JoAnn V.

Isn't it absolutely adorable? Love the image and her coloring is absolutely fantabulous!!!

And our Bride for the WEEK is Sharm

I love the shape of this card.  The corrugated cardboard and the sewing adds so much texture to this card.  I love her flower with the hearts coming out and if you look closely at the toothpick you can even see that she has stamping on the greeting too.  So many details.  An  AMAZING card!!!! Sharm will be our GDT the week of June 28th and will also receive 15% off from the LCOM store (one time).

Tomorrow JJ and Corinne will be back to post the next challenge(s) we have in store for you.  Spread the word.  You will want to be here to participate.  It's going to be fun!
