The Eternal City

The Eternal City by Brittney Aldous

Hey everyone! I absolutely loved playing with the Mabel collection - the texture is fabulous! I was drooling over the gorgeous patterned paper with the script - it is so romantic and Old World - which was perfect for a photo from Rome - the Eternal City. And after that, everything else just fell into place (don't you just love when that happens?!)

Are We Having Fun Yet?

Are We Having Fun Yet
by Krissy Clark McKee

I love the new "Gertie" line of papers by My Mind's Eye! It has such a fun, slightly vintage-y feel to it as well as a delightful mix of patterns that blend and coordinate extremely well with each other! As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to create a layout using one of my favorite pictures of my grandmother and me when I was a toddler. We were at a large amusement park, which should have been a lot of fun, but I was in full-on pouting mode!

I used quite a few wonderful supplies from the LCOM store to make this fun layout!

Supplies used:

Paper
My Mind's Eye "Gertie" - You & Me Numbers, You & Me Ornamental, and Little One Darling Dots.

Other:
My Mind's Eye "Mabel" Love Brads
My Mind's Eye "Gertie" Friends Forever Chipboard
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Walnut Stain
Brown Embroidery Floss
Little Yellow Bicycle Stick Pins
Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type Alphas
Ribbon
Brown Marker for Doodling/Faux Stitcking

********************************************************************
I love adding dimension to my layouts, so the MME Gertie three dimensional chipboard stickers were a perfect addition to my layout. And to add even more dimension, I affixed my alpha letters to cut up pieces of my cardstock and then added a small pop-dot behind each piece of cardstock.

I loved using the MME paper flowers with brad centers that came with My Mind's Eye "Mabel" Love Brads. Even though these brads weren't part of the "Gertie" collection, My Mind's Eye always makes sure their different lines coordinate perfectly! Don't you agree?

To frame the picture, I wrapped embroidery floss along the side several times and used adhesive to keep it in place. I then added two pins to finish my cluster. Next, I adhered ribbon along the bottom of my
photo.

For visual interest, I doodled a simple stitched line in various places on my paper, and I framed the entire layout using a double wavy line of doodling to give the illusion of stitching.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing with this new spring line of papers! Please be sure to check them out as well as many other fabulous new items being loaded into the STORE every day!

Until next time...
Have a scrappy weekend!!!

Hi Everyone!

I'm back with another layout using the very fun line For the Record by Echo Park. I always wanted to do a layout with these pictures of my daughter at a gymnastics meet, and the adorable little hot air balloon on the For the Record Element Sticker sheet gave me the perfect inspiration!

I love the Newsprint paper, and thought it made the perfect background. I added some machine stitching and a little color to make the the layout pop a bit more and then went to town with more of the Element stickers!

I added the absolutely adorable Maya Road Mini Kraft Tags and labelled them with some Tiny Type letters from my stash. Then to complete the layout, I added the pleated ribbon (the trick is to staple it first, then adhere to your layout!!) and some twine for the balloon and the tags. It really was a fun layout to create!!

That's all for today, I'll be back in a couple of weeks with some more projects... in the meantime take a peek at the LCOM Store... there's more Echo Park For the Record as well as a whole bunch of new goodies!!

Daddy's Little Angel

Daddy's Little Angel
by Brittney Aldous

Hey everyone! Brittney here with you, and I'm so excited to be sharing this layout because I had such a blast playing with these goodies. They're so versatile and the colors are so rich! Seriously, My Mind's Eye hit it out of the park with their Stella & Rose collections (I played with the yummy Mabel line).

I'm such a HUGE fan of fussy cutting, which is the technique I used with the Joy Crochet paper. As soon as I saw this paper I knew that it was destined to be cut up and I love the result!

I'll be back next week, so make sure to come back!

Hi everyone - are you enjoying all the Marketing Team creations as much as I am!!!

I just wanted to hijack the blog today to share some quick cards I made with some of the leftovers from my Echo Park Little Girl pack !

I have this theory in 2011- I need to use more scraps. I save almost every scrap - and that is just crazy and getting out of control! lol SO, I promised myself in 2011 that I would make 1 card for every layout that I do. I couldn't resist making a few cards with Little Girl.

I have said it before - the patterns and colours are SO FUN! And really - not just for little girls. They would make awesome birthday cards, thank you's and many more different reasons!

One thing I used on every card that is a true hidden gem in the LCOM store are the Best Creation Foam Squares. I know - adhesive Nicole, you are going to blab about adhesive  - yes I am...
HELLO - they are $ 1.50 for a large sheet! Who can resist that good of a deal.

Lately, I have been using more and more foam squares on my projects, a super easy way to add a little dimension to your pages and cards !

Stay tuned for more fabulous ideas from the rest of the Marketing Team - and a new month, means new ideas and new products too!

Shabby Chic Crafts and Prima layout and cards!

The Shabby Chic Crafts Notecards and Artisan Frames are a perfect addition to your layouts!  I made this layout about my nephew Logan using some fun papers from the American Crafts Confetti collection.  I added a little Maya Road Crystal Star to this joyous layout as well!

For my "Hi" card I used American Crafts Confetti paper, a Shabby Chic Crafts Artisan frame, and a Prima flower in lime green!

The Shabby Chic Crafts Envelopes help you make a quick card that looks great...you can complete the look when you add a little hidden journaling card in the envelope!  The Prima pink and lime green flowers match the envelope perfectly :)

Prima is making the cutest birds...you will love these on your cards or layouts (the script ones I used on my card are sold out but make sure you check out the Rose Print ones...they are beautiful)! The Shabby Chic Crafts Vintage Moments tags make a very classy accent to your projects.  For the base of the card I used My Mind's Eye Hazel/Mother Meadow paper.

Echo Park For the Record: Picket Fence, Fancy Floral, Table Cloth, Red/Cream Solid, Green/Green solid

Trim
Maya Road Yellow Ruffle Edge Trim

Embellishments
Echo Park For the Record Alpha Stickers, Maya Road Zipper Trim, Maya Road mini canvas banner, Petaloo Dragon fly

Hi Everyone!

I'm so excited to be here with my first post for the LCOM Marketing Team!! I was so lucky to get to work with Echo Park's For the Record. This is a fabulous collection. The colors are "retro" which I LOVE!! I thought they coordinated perfectly with this picture of my mother and daughter I found from last summer.

With names like tablecloth and fancy floral, I felt I couldn't do a layout without stitching!! I also had a lot of fun with the embellishments. The flowers were made by adding some scoring tape to the zipper trims and winding them around.

The Maya Yellow Ruffle trim was perfect for a banner topper and the Alpha letters fit perfectly on the pennants!

To complete, a friend found the cutest little dragon fly, which matched my mom's shirt. I spritzed him for color and hand stitched the little swirl.

That's it for today, I'll be back next week with a new layout using Echo Park's For the Record. Stop by LCOM today to peek at all of the fun papers and embellishments from this line!

Shabby Chic Crafts + Prima = Cute Mini Book!

products on the mini book cover:
flowers (Prima); flower centres (Prima);  Pins (Maya Road)
paper (Echo Park); mini frame (Shabby Chic Crafts)

I instantly fell in love with all of the Shabby Chic Crafts product in the Let's Capture Our Memories Store and I imagined that the line would look great with Prima flowers!  Seeing everything together I was instantly inspired to make a Spring mini book and I'd love to share with you how.

The Supplies:

corrugated cardboard
cardstock
embroidery floss
pattern paper

adhesive
needle

The Instructions:

1.  Trim two pieces of corrugated cardboard to measure 3 1/2 X 4, as well, cut a piece of cardstock to measure 2 X 4.  Glue your corrugated cardboard onto your card stock as shown...making sure to leave at least 3/4 of an inch in the centre.

outside:

2.  Cut a piece of pattern paper to measure 2 X 4 and use to cover the piece of card stock on the outside of book.

3.  Fold mini book to form a spine.

4.  Trim three piece of cardstock to measure 4 X 7 and fold in half. Place one piece of folded cardstock inside the book, along the spine, and poke holes using a push pin along the fold line...make sure that you push your pin through the spine of the book as well.

5.  Handsew the cardstock page to the spine.  Repeat with the other sheets of cardstock.

The book is now ready to be decorated!

The papers to use for my book was an easy descision...Echo Park Springtime!  The lime green Prima flowers were a perfect springtime match :)

Aren't the little envelopes so sweet...

By layering up notecards you get lots of journaling room!  I added a Maya Road Star Pin to the flowers pin for a fun look!

The pink and blue Prima flowers look so perfect with the pearl and crystal centres...

I added a little strip of Maya Road brown satin pleat ribbon for some extra dimension...
