Inspiration Station - The sketch came back!

Hello, everyone! Aurelie here with another instalment of Inspiration Station - where I try to inspire you by being inspired myself!! This week, with the busyness of Summer and all, I had to find inspiration somewhere very dependable. And that spot was my binder full of sketches. You know how it works: you find a sketch, fall in love with it, print it or save it, and look for it when you need it. Well, as it so happens, I have a sketch or two on hand that are go-to sketches, sketches that I can work with and end up with something I like every time. It's like the song, The Cat Came Back, but in this case, it's The Sketch Came Back! And this one, by Becky Fleck, over at PageMaps, is definitely one of them:

A friend of mine was actually scrapping with it a few weekends ago and a few layouts after, I found myself gravitating towards its grid design that is so infectious. Here is what I came up with, along with a few close-ups:

Yes, that's a photo of what seems like an ugly pair of sneakers. But to me, it's a photo of my mother's feet, wearing her pair of sneakers she always uses to mow the lawn. Priceless, if you ask me. So, I used tons and tons and tons of Simple Stories' Homespun collection on this one - totally à propos if I do say so myself (12X12 Simple Basics kit, 6X6 patterned papers, chipboard stickers, bits & pieces, and expressions stickers), but also added some Tim Holtz rubons and foliage, a My Little Yellow Bicycle cork heart pin, and a Stampin' Up arrow paper clip. I also punched some tiny hearts from the Simple Stories Homespun 6X6 patterned papers using a Martha Stewart punch (graciously lent to me by a fellow scrapper - you know who you are!). And that green triangle on the bottom left? It's totally hiding a scrappy blunder as I was finishing another layout. Scrappy opportunity at its finest! Hee!Hee!

Want to see a few other layouts I've made using this sketch? Here they are:

Please join us again on Thursday, when Jocelyne will show us how to use a certain scrappy product in a whole new different way!

Happy scrapping!

Wow Aurelie, those are stunning! And I love seeing how you used whatever size photo you wanted, instead of trying to cut a small one like the sketch had... Great effect and great way to use up scraps!
