Let's meet our
Guest Designer this week...I am so excited to have her on board here at LCOM!!!!
Hi, everyone! My name is Sherri Thompson, and I am so excited to be the Guest Designer for LCOM this week! I live in rural Maine with my husband and our two children. I am currently a full-time college student studying Elementary Education. Papercrafting is my creative outlet and I try to fit in a little crafty time each day.
I began papercrafting in 1997, after my son was born. At first, I was solely a scrapbooker, but then my sister-in-law introduced me to stamping and cardmaking and I was instantly hooked. Now I have the privilege of designing for several manufacturers and challenge blogs. I also write a monthly column for ScrapStreet magazine.
Thanks so much for taking the time to learn a little bit about me. I hope you enjoy the challenge this week-this was a fun one for me because I love embossing!
Sherri
Sherri decided to go with both kinds of embossing because she couldn't decide which to do! Don't you just love how she topped it off with those cute buttons! Love Sherri's style!!!
Here is what the rest of the DT did this week.
Corinne
Corinne's embossing is on her petals. Isn't this a gorgeous card. I love the colors that she used for her sample.
JJ
JJ used a plastic separator from a box of Ferrero Rocher. I embossed it with a diamond-plate pattern, and coloured it with alcohol inks to make it look like galvanized metal. This is so neat, it really looks stunning and so much like metal.
Rusha
Isn't Rusha's card so cute? I want to jump right into that pool too. She embossed the white strip behind the main image and chalked it with blue.
Melissa
The background piece was embossed with a Sizzix folder and then she inked over it. Isn't it just stunning. I would love to receive this card.
Emily
Emily dry embossed her blue cardstock. Love the little icecream cone on her card. Cute and pretty!
Dani
Dani did an embossed layering technique. She first stamped a text script background, then stamped her image (over the text image)with versamark and embossing powder, then heat embossed it. Then she went over it with 3 shades of Distress Inks to add the coloring. What a beautiful summery card!
Sandi
Sandi used both wet and dry embossing. Her black piece of cardstock has dry embossing that she did with her big shot and texture plates and she put her greeting on her card with versamark and black embossing powder. A simple thank you card that is very summery!
Anita
I used an acetate sheet to make my card and I embossed in using a Cuttlebug Embossing folder. I then used my Copics to color the raised images. I tried alcohol inks which tended to run and the markers worked the best.
I hope that you will have a chance to participate in our challenge. Be sure to enter your card by Saturday 8/7/10 at 8PM EST for a chance to win a GDT spot for the week of August 15the and 15% off an order at LCOM store. Can't wait to see what you create.
Hugs,
Anita
