Using A Sketch (using only patterned paper), Playing with October Afternoon

I have been playing some more with the October Afternoon 9 to 5 collection in the store and having so much fun blending all the patterns together. I knew they would be a perfect match for this sketch that is on the October Afternoon blog...

and my page

"learn right now"

I decided it would be fun to do a patterned paper only page for the sketch since it had a nice clean design. Using only patterns can sometimes be difficult and it may be hard to know how to mix them up with out making your page too busy. I find a few simple steps can help pull multiple patterns and designs together....

*start with a photo that is simple in colors and activity*

This helps from causing even more busyness on your page.

*add little bits of solid colors somewhere else on your page*

Cute little embellishments or paint can add some nice color to pull it all together.

*add solid color alphabets*

This can be the last little touch to help pull the design all together.

I LOVE using LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of patterns on a page and find these little tips can help them all blend to create a page I really enjoy!
