An Altered Chalkboard AND a simple Project Life Spread...

I have been so excited to share this with you! I had NO idea what I was going to do with this chalkboard when it first arrived... well, I *thought* I had a plan, but the chalkboard was actually a lot bigger than I pictured when it arrived. It was so much cuter, too :)

I started out with a banner at the top... I knew I wanted that for sure. I used the Magpie Collect paper to create a hexagon stitched banner. I used some pop dots to add it to the chalkboard, but only added adhesive to a few of the hexagons so it would wiggle and hang pretty.

Next I decided I wanted to add a "mini" album to the chalkboard. The first thing I did was use the Magpie mini pattern sheet as a guide for my album size. I cut two strips of vanilla cardstock, then I folded them accordion style so that I would create squares that match up to the squares of the patterned paper. Then, I added one patterned square to each of the square sections I needed for my album (which were four... one for each of my girls). I added a photo of each of my girls. I found wallets were a perfect fit. Then, I added a a tab and a letter initial for each of them.

Now, for the question of how I would add the album to the chalk board. I knew I would have fun changing the albums out since it just fits perfectly on my mantle with my other decor, so glue was out of the question. I decided in the end to raid my husband's tools and see if we had any nails so I could add some metal tabs (by 7 gypsies) that were permanent. It worked perfectly to secure that album to the chalkboard! I then could keep changing the albums for each season/holiday!

Lastly, I used the chalk pencil to add a note to my girls.... I can change that up with anything... a verse, a word of love or encouragement. I LOVE that. This little chalkboard is so cute all on its own, but I had fun dressing it up and know I will continue to have fun with it!

With my scraps, I also created this Project Life Spread....

It was a simple week and I love that I could still document it for our family's weekly album! The little bits I had left over worked perfectly!

I hope you will all check out the chalkboard for yourself and if you do create something special with it, please let me know so I can go check it out!!

Neat idea to attach a mini to it Lisa. The kids will have fun seeing the new one every time you swap it out.
