Inspiration Station - Take Two!

Hello, Let's Capture Our Memories' fans! Hope you had an awesome weekend!! For me, it was a true birthday extravaganza, celebrating our son's sixth birthday! One word: Pokémon!! Hee!Hee! But, amidst all the planning, gift-wrapping, party favours making and picking up odds and ends all around town, I did make time to sit down and scrap a bit. Couldn't let you guys down, now, could I? Hee!Hee!

Ever fall in love with a sketch, sit down, start scrapping, but end up not liking what you come up with? Ever take the time to ask yourself what might be the problem? That's what totally happened to me this week. I had an awesome Emma Stafrace sketch over at PageDrafts that I oh, so wanted to scrap with ever since I first saw it:

But when I tried it, with a collection I absolutely LOVE, it still just wasn't working for me. Once upon a time, I would've given up and that would've been the end of that. But this sketch is SO nice! I couldn't give up! So I tried again, but with a different photo and a totally new set of products. And it totally worked! Woo!Hoo! Moral of the story, if you love a sketch or a colour combo or a mood board as much as I loved this sketch, it's probably because it's speaking to you in a way that your creative bug just won't go away. So, don't give up! Give in to that feeling. Change it up, keep smiling, and have fun! Here's what I came up with followed by a few close-ups:

You guessed it, Simple Stories - A Charmed Life (12X12 Simple Basic Kit, 12X12 patterned papers, Bits & Pieces, Expressions Stickers, and Fundamentals Stickers). I mean, who can go wrong with an awesome collection like that?! Not that the other collection I used for my first attempt using this sketch was not pretty, but I mean, really. This Simple Stories collection has the same type of patterns as the sketch suggests for goodness sake! It can't get much easier than that! Hee!Hee! Also used my very handy Bazzill Basics circular stitching template with some DMC floss, a few splats of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, some Making Memories staples, and some super dooper old Basic Grey chipboard alphas (which were part of my very first alpha shopping spree way back in 2008!). Ah! Yes! And the infamous no-name buttons - in my stash, patiently waiting to be used anonymously... Hee!Hee!

Happy scrapping!
