using trash and the ordinary
I had all the makings of a wonderful page.... a great story (click to read), a lovely picture and little bits of the gorgeous October Afternoon 9 to 5 collection....
BUT from there I was stumped a bit. I had some ideas but did not know where to go with it.... so I pulled out my craft room trash bag (grossed out??) and looked there first. What did I find? Oh, so pretty packaging and I knew that would fit nicely on my page. I even layered some of the wood veneer birds over the drawn ones on the packaging. I also found some tissue paper from a recent gift (it's my birthday this week :) ) and decided it was the perfect shade of tan and threw that into my creating pile, too. I looked all over my desk next and found all sorts of treasures... half doilies, brads, flair, flags, and bits. I also found a bit of fabric that seemed pretty useless, but almost seemed to have been saved for this page! Perfect!!
I started with a base of vanilla cardstock, then brushed on thick layers of paint, then layered it all on! I machine stitched here and there and added a title.
"acorns for mama"
I am still waiting for my surprise box to show up, but for now it was fun just using what I had in my stash! I hope you have fun using your stash and maybe even your trash on your next page!
