Ever had one of those weeks when whatever you set out to do turned into something totally different? Oh, yes, I know! Frustrating at times, but then again, it can completely be eye-opening. For me, my scrappy world was totally rocked this week as soon as I saw the new Creative Scrappers sketch revealed on Sunday (click here for the reveal!)- and not necessarily because of the awesome designs by the CS team (amazing job everyone, by the way!), but especially due to its cue to not use a photo. Ummm, excuse me? ;) Yes, you read right! A photoless layout sketch!! Well, that got my wheels turning - and I set out to find some other great examples. Would you believe that I found an actual blog post talking about this exact thing? Heather Hess, a fellow scrapper, reminding us to document memories of which we don't necessarily have a photo (click here for the blog post!)... Amazing, eh? We all have tons of these to scrap!
While doing my research for this blog post, I happened to find this awesome Scrap365 sketch based on a layout by Marie-Nicholas Alliott:
And here is what I came up with:
Used tons and tons of Echo Park's Times & Seasons 2 collection on this one (12X12 patterned paper, 6X6 paper pad, and chipboard accents), as well as Stampin' Up cardstock and brads, American Crafts tag, Amy Tangerine date stamp and title sticker, Studio Calico wood veneers, Queen & Co. washi tape, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, Making Memories black staples, and DMC floss stitched using a Bazzill Basics stitching template.
I must admit, the whole idea of scrapping without photos was a bit daunting for me at first. But then, I got thinking of all those photoless memories I want people to know about me when I'll be long gone... it's almost like writing in a diary like way back when, but with pretty paper... Hee!Hee! At the end of the day, it's all about leaving something of ourselves behind. With or without photos doesn't really matter when you think of it. A lightbulb moment to say the least for this little ol' scrapper right here. Mm-mm, that's right!
With this in mind, I would love to see your photoless layouts on LCOM's Facebook page or by leaving a link to your blog and/or gallery by commenting below. Happy scrapping - with photos or not! ;)
