Product Shuffle: mixing alphabet fonts in your title

Today we're going to talk about mixing alphabet fonts for your title. If you're like me, you probably have tons of alphabet sticker sheets. Mixing fonts on your page is a great way to use up your stash! You can combine different colors, different fonts, big letters, small letters... the possibilities are endless. Combining different alphabet stickers can add a lot of character to your page and help put emphasis on certain words.

I used three different alphabet sticker sets on this page: EK Success (small white), American Crafts (grey), and Amy Tangerine (Thickers). Maybe you don't feel comfortable mixing so many sizes and colors just quite yet. That's ok! Here's one I did a little while back using two colors and two different fonts.

Making a quick trip through the LCOM Gallery, I found some other examples of how members have mixed alphabets. Here's one by Gisele. She used three different fonts and three different colors.

One from Probyte. I like the script font combined with the more bold font. Both colors in her title match her layout perfectly.

Inspiration Station

Happy Monday ladies! I have the first March Inspiration Monday post.

While shopping online, I came across this photo and I was really drawn to the blue and white contrast + the metallic purse. Such a pretty shade of blue - it reminded me of the ocean. Which was great because I was just vacationing in the Bahamas!

I thought I would try for a blue/white/gold color scheme on my layout. Since it's another vacation photo, I added in some accent colors that are colorful and fun (pink and yellow).

Isabelle had me use the Elle's Studio Serendipity line + the Crate Paper DIY line and these two collections go together really well! Plus I am a huge fan of anything Elle's Studio.

The flower pattern on THIS paper from the Serendipity collection is something I would never use but that blue/white B side is great for my inspiration photo. I also had the Serendipity circle tags and the Serendipity Large & Medium journal tags. I layered these on my page.

My embellishments are from the Crate Paper DIY Shop layered stickers + accent stickers. I did think these embellishments coordinated quite well for the most part but I wanted the gold tags to match a little better. I just removed the top sticker from the tag and replaced it with a different accent sticker. I also wanted to use the blue flower from the flower cluster so I just cut it and used it alone on my page. Enough talking... Here's my page:

Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic and Color Magic Layout

Hi everyone! It's Kate Vickers here today. I just want to share a layout that I created with Heidi Swapp's Sugar Chic line. I love the bold prints and bright colours in this line. It's been a lot of fun to work with.

For this layout I started off with a base of Color Magic paper and I inked the edges with some blue ink by Stampin' Up. Next, I randomly sprayed the inside here and there with homemade pink mist (water + ink + a few drops of gum arabic + PearlEx powder). I love the subtle effect it created. It really brings out the colours in my Photoshop edited pictures.

 

Here's a little tip with photos, if your pictures don't match your paper - print them in black and white or sepia instead. My daughter was wearing a dark purple dress in this photo and it wasn't going to work with this paper, so I decided to go with black and white. However, both my girls have very striking blue eyes inherited from their Dad, and I didn't want to lose that in the close up shot used in this layout, so I edited the photos in Photoshop to be partially black and white and partially in colour (her eyes and her cheeks have colour).

Heidi Swapp's Sentiment Storage elements are a pleasure to use.  I love being able to hide my journalling with such a pretty embellishment.

 

I fussy cut a lot of the flowers out of one piece of the Heidi Swapp paper and then embellished it with Viva Decor Pearl Pens and some 3D foam dots.

 

I adore using the Heidi Swapp Color Magic alphabet stickers seen here. Don't you hate it when you can't find the right alphabet stickers for a layout? Well, this is the solution! Where was I going to get bright yellow alphabet stickers from?

Great Wolf Adventure with Heidi Swapp No Limits

Hi everyone! It`s Kate here today. I would love to share my most recent layout with you. I used Heidi Swapp`s No Limits collection for this one. What a fun collection this is! I adore the bright colours and the fun embellishments.

These pictures are from a very recent visit to Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls, Canada. My son is enjoying some of the features in the outdoor pool. If you are near one of these resorts I highly recommend it for wearing out your kids! Mine were exhausted!

 

I`m a big fan of cutting out small features on papers and using them as embellishments. You can see that I cut out the camera, the bullseye, a star and the globe circles with a 1" circle punch from a single sheet of paper, Heidi Swapp No Limits Smarty and I accented them by adding 1" epoxy circles over top. I also cut out the star border from Heidi Swapp No Limits Champion paper and the 'Explore' feature and maps from the Heidi Swapp No Limits Destinations paper.

  

I used a Heidi Swapp digital brush to create my 'Adventure' title and cut it out with my Silhouette Cameo. This is pretty easy to do for Photoshop and Silhouette Studio users.

Drama Queen with Heidi Swapp Products

Hi everyone! Happy belated Canada Day to my fellow Canucks -- and of course, Happy 4th of July to my American friends!

Today, I'm sharing a project that I did with Heidi Swapp's Sugar Chic line. This photo of my youngest daughter peering over her oversized sunglasses fit perfectly with this paper line, and the annoyed look on her face just screams "DRAMA QUEEN!!!".

I created the 3D hearts with hot pink Bazzill cardstock and a Heidi Swapp digital printable. I used my Silhouette Cameo's print and cut feature for this. You could do the same thing by cutting hearts out of Heidi Swapp's Sugar Chic Drama or Fabulous papers. You could also freehand cut the hearts, cut them with a Cricut, use a paper punch or trace an existing heart to create the same effect.

I edged the hearts with a black marker to make them stand out even more. I applied Versamark ink on top of the entire zebra print heart, added sparkly clear embossing powder over top and heat embossed them. This gave the hearts a finished 'sticker-like' look. Lastly, I layered the hearts on top of one another and machine stitched through the center and added Helmar Scrapdots in between the layers to create the 3D look.

I used Heidi Swapp's Color Magic alphabet stickers for the second part of my title. I coloured them with a Faber-Castell Gelato. So easy and fun!

Crate Paper Storyteller - Don't Hate Me Because I'm Beautiful

Hi everyone! It's Kate here today, and I would like to share a layout that I created using Crate Paper's Storyteller collection. I love this collection so much that I ordered it twice! I have already created a mini album, two card and two layouts with it and plan on doing more. It's such a versatile collection, it really goes with anything and everything.

Anyway, enough chatter... Here is my layout.

Here is a closeup of the title and embellishments. I was given those green and cream vintage buttons by a very generous lady at a crop. She had a big bag of buttons that she was giving away and I spotted them right away and immediately thought of this line. I was super lucky to be at the right place at the right time. The other buttons are from Crate Paper.
